1. Sign up with email
Open dragonkind.com. The public greeting is Conscription Day / Rider’s Quadrant. You give an email and receive a code. No payment is part of that flow.
Player reports: codes often fail for disposable inboxes. Use an address that actually receives mail. Check spam if nothing arrives. Rebecca publicly asked for patience when the queue is busy and said hundreds of thousands of readers had already entered.
2. Enter the verification code
That is the account step. MoodReads and other recaps describe a one-time code, not a password profile you manage later.
3. Wing, section, squad — then Threshing
In the books, the Riders Quadrant uses four wings and sections named Flame, Claw, and Tail. That book structure matches what MoodReads was assigned. Other players will get different placements. Treat that assignment as part of the site, not as a proven stat bonus.
4. Threshing Valley
You make scene-by-scene choices. Documented possible endings from playtests: a bond/result card, or incineration plus a retry wait. MoodReads’s death line was “OOOOH. That was a… choice.” Parade, citing Yarros, also said you can be scorched or killed and must wait, and that there is roughly a 10% incineration chance no matter what you do.
MoodReads: friends with the same answers got different results. Threads readers report dying several times before a bond. Do not treat a viral “always shout” clip as a studio mechanic.
5. Reader tips vs book class
Reader-reported (MoodReads, labeled by them as unconfirmed): don’t be indecisive; be honest about flaws; go in without weapons; approach a red from the left. Choices people mention include going alone or with squadmates, helping an injured cadet, and heading toward or away from sulfur. One reader described going alone, running from a red, picking orange over brown, roaring back, and bonding — that is one anecdote, not a route.
Book lore (Kaori / official dens page) — not confirmed as game code:
- Green: lower your eyes, wait, never back down.
- Red: never meet their gaze; approach from the left and front if possible.
- Blue: Kaori warns cadets to flee rather than approach.
- Brown: never show fear.
- Black: most discerning; they do not bond lightly in the novels.
- Orange: most unpredictable; a risk to approach at Threshing.
Fans are testing whether those book rules are scored. Yarros Ink has not published that they are.
6. Bond card or wait
A result card lists name, tail type, sex, age, color, and lineage. Scene notes: database. Signets are not on the card. A hidden countdown can appear after you bond — see the database.
Code never arrives
- Spam and promotions folders (player reports).
- A real inbox, not a throwaway (player reports).
- Wait, then request a new code. Heavy launch traffic was publicly acknowledged.
