Cadets gathered before Threshing

Dragonkind database

What Threshing actually contains.

A compact log of Dragonkind scenes, colors, and after-bond extras. These are player logs, not a published answer key. Same answers can still bond or burn.

Not studio data.

dragonkind.com has not posted a scoring table. Rows below are labeled In-game when many runs describe the same screen, or Unconfirmed when they are a route, a luck claim, or a one-off. Do not treat this page as a guaranteed Black Dragon walkthrough.

Sorted from a public bonding megathread. Wording here is this guide’s, not a comment dump.

01 — Scenes

Screens that show up in Threshing

Bonding does not happen before a shared mid-run beat: you have walked nearly an hour and cut yourself on a thorn. After that, branches split.

BeatWhat you may chooseStatus
Start of the Valley Go alone, or stay with squadmates (often west). In-game
Early threat Eyes low / hold still, or deal with a red. Indecision can scorch you. In-game
Scream Investigate and help, or keep walking. In-game
Cadet fight Stop and assess; engage the smaller cadet; avoid a dagger. Bullies: squadmate revenge, leave them, or kill. Cadets can end a run. In-game
Direction Center, farther into the forest, east/west, or climb the tallest tree. In-game
Tree Climb down fast or slow. Sometimes a third line: follow a shadow to the west. Many runs never see that third line. Luck branch
Green clearing Two greens. You can bond one of them. A shadow overhead is reported; what it is if you refuse both greens is not settled. In-game
Red from the tree Jumping onto the back can snap your neck — or stick. Later choices include lying flat while it breathes fire, then crawling to the seat. In-game
Center colors Orange and brown can appear here. Both can still kill you on this branch. In-game
Blue / black Usually after the shadow line (or a rare blue at center). Blue: hold still, look away. Black: hold and meet the gaze. Eye contact can still scorch. Rare

02 — Colors

Colors on result cards

Cards print a color and a tail. There is no published drop rate. Blue and black are the ones people wait longest to even meet.

Red

Common. Tree-jump and “deal with the threat” runs often end here. Clubtail, daggertail, and swordtail all show up.

Orange

Center-of-the-Valley branch. Can save you from another dragon — or roast you. Unpredictable matches the den note.

Green

Clearing with two greens is a reliable meeting. Indecision can still incinerate you. Swordtail, clubtail, daggertail, scorpiontail reported.

Brown

Center branch and other forest lines. Flavor text can be blunt. Clubtail and swordtail reported.

Blue

Rare meeting. One long log: 4 blues in 84 runs. Confirming “I want blue” can still roast you. Daggertail is the tail people mention most.

Black

Rarest meeting. Tied to the tree’s shadow line in most logs. Going alone is not required. Morningstartail appears on some black cards. Rumor page.

Gold

Gold / feathertail does print for some players. Do not assume you will get it.

03 — Routes

Reported sequences — not keys

These are sequences people wrote down after a bond. Recreating them on another email often fails. The shadow line is the usual luck gate for blue and black.

One black sequence

Alone + shadow + gaze

  1. Go alone.
  2. Handle the early red.
  3. Center of the forest.
  4. Help the screaming cadet.
  5. At the fight, avoid the dagger; let a squadmate take revenge.
  6. Climb the tree.
  7. If a third prompt appears, follow the shadow.
  8. Blue: hold still, look away; do not warn the other cadet.
  9. Wrap the injured cadet’s wounds; continue south.
  10. Black: hold position, meet the eyes.

Players who never get step 7 never meet black this way — including after dozens of tree climbs.

Another black sequence

West with the squad

Did not go alone. Went west with squadmates, survived the next fight, helped the cadet, left the bullies alive, entered the forest. The shadow still appeared (blue). Let the blue leave, then found black. Assignment that run: Third Wing, Claw, Third Squad.

Takeaway: “must go alone” is not proven. The shared luck check is whether the tree (or a rare center beat) offers the shadow.

A tree-only loop (climb down fast or slow, no shadow) is the default for many accounts. One report says don’t climb if you want blue in a clearing instead — that is unconfirmed, and a blue can still appear on the shadow line without bonding.

FAQ

Database questions

Is this an official Dragonkind drop table?

No. Play at dragonkind.com. This page only groups what players have logged.

How do I get a black dragon?

There is no published method. Most logs that meet black first get a rare third option at the tree (follow the shadow). Meeting black still can scorch you. Details: Black Dragon.

Why do I only get two options in the tree?

That is the common screen: down fast or down slow. The shadow line is luck. People have gone dozens of climbs without it.

Does going alone matter?

Alone is one reported black path. Another black bond went west with the squad. Alone is not a proven requirement.

Where is the signet timer?

After you bond: open the main Dragonkind page, open See artwork, then click the archway. It is not a line on the result card.

Where did these notes come from?

Condensed from the r/fourthwing Dragonkind bonding megathread (part 3). This page does not copy comment threads. The live thread is on Reddit if you want raw screenshots.
